Shrewsbury – Mary A. (Pisa) Cesnickas-Angelico, 90, of Shrewsbury, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at UMass Memorial Medical Center University Campus. Her first husband, Joseph A. Cesnickas, died in 1973, and her second husband, C. Paul Angelico, died in 1989.
Mary is survived by her loving family: her son, Andrew J. Cesnickas of Shrewsbury, with whom she lived; her sons, Joel F. Angelico and his wife Janet of Foxboro and Paul J. Angelico of California; and her daughter, Anne Marie Rowse and her husband Steven of Harvard. She also leaves her nephew who was like a son to her, Marc Pisa and his wife Cathy of Holden. Mary was a loving grandmother to Jaime Doane and her husband Ben, Andrew Cesnickas Jr. and his wife Erin, Laura Brotman and her husband Jeremy, Marc Angelico, Michael and Matthew Angelico, Hillary, Rebecca, and Sara Rowse, Sarah and Kellie Pisa, and her three great-grandchildren that she adored. She also leaves many nieces and nephews who were very close to her.
Mary was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Ausilio and Rose (Grande) Pisa, and lived in Worcester many years before moving to Shrewsbury in 1975. She was a graduate of Commerce High School.
Mary worked for the Worcester School Department for many years. She retired from the Belmont Street School where she worked in the cafeteria. She loved being with children.
She was a longtime member of the Church of Saint Anne where she participated and baked for various church activities. She also enjoyed going to the Mt. Carmel Golden Years Club and to Mass at Mt. Carmel, where she had many friends.
Mary was a longtime member of the San Vitaliano Women’s Society. She loved to cook, bake, and enjoyed a good card game! However, her most treasured times were those spent with her family and friends. She was a kind and always helpful woman with a great smile. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Her funeral will be held Monday, Feb. 2 from the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, with a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in the Church of St. Anne, 130 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, Feb. 1, from 2-5 p.m., in the funeral home. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
