Shrewsbury – Town Manager Daniel Morgado publicly received his performance review at the Board of Selectmen’s meeting Feb. 9.
“I’m happy to announce that your performance has been excellent to distinguished,” said Selectmen Chair Moira Miller. She added that Morgado’s work has been at a high level of performance to the community and that he has done an excellent job in working toward the town’s self-determination while having only limited resources. She praised him for his continued professional growth and high work ethic, which “helps him maintain a position that is ‘a rock’ in the community.”
Morgado thanked the board for their praise, saying that it is a pleasure to work in this community and for this board, and giving credit to his “great office staff.”
Miller was echoed by Selectman Maurice DePalo, who thanked Morgado for his “great handling of pension issues” and his “willingness to take on issues while spreading the credit for their successful resolution.”
In other business, the board once again continued the hearing for an application from Salim F. Auode, Inc., d/b/a Sam’s Mobil Service Center, at 285 Boston Turnpike. The petition would allow Robert S. Aoude, the manager, to be granted a Class II License and increase the number of vehicles on site from 16 to 25. He requested by letter another continuance for four weeks due to matters that are still pending. The board approved a motion to delay the hearing until the first meeting in March.
The board also voted unanimously to approve the Shrewsbury High School Class of 2018’s 5K Fun Run for Sunday, May 1; to appoint Myran Parker-Brass, of 57 Hemingway St., to the Shrewsbury Cultural Council for a three-year term to expire Feb. 10, 2019; to approve a One Day All Alcoholic Beverage License application from Barbara Cotter, Struck Catering, for the annual Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services Gala March 12; to approve a lease extension for the Glavin property while it is being renovated; to approve a lease agreement for a solar facility at the town landfill; and to approve a companion tax agreement for a solar facility, both agreements worth approximately $188,000 a year in revenue for the town. Finally, the board approved the Operational Policies handbook as amended by a 5-0 vote.
