Marlborough – Wayside Racquet & Swim Club announced that as of March 22 it will be known as Wayside Athletic Club. The name change, along with its new tagline, “Building a Stronger Community,” is part of a re-branding initiative to better align the company with its offerings, community involvement and values.
Wayside’s name change comes almost a year after a new management team took over the operations in May 2015. General Manager Darren McLaughlin stated: “After a 30-year history with Wayside, I am thrilled to be a part of this new management team as I know we’re going to raise this club to a whole new level!”
The team has been evaluating the business and making plans to improve the facility. The improvements will begin with a renovation of the lobby and women’s locker room. With the new name comes a new logo and website. The goal of these changes is to create an overall improved member experience.
“With our commitment to the local community, plans to offer additional programming and improvements to the facility, we are striving to make Wayside the fitness club of choice for the whole family,” said President Paul Birch.
