Obit Joseph A. DiLelloShrewsbury – Joseph A. “Joe” DiLello, 91, of Shrewsbury, formerly of New York, died Thursday, May 15, 2016 after being stricken ill at home.

He was born and raised in Manhattan, N.Y., son of the late Nicholas and Anna DiLello.

He leaves his wife of 66 years, Rita (DiLello) DiLello; three daughters, Carol Sheehy and her husband Timothy of Wrentham, Joanne Stein and her husband William of Fairhaven, N.J., and Barbara R. DiLello Smith of Eastchester, N.Y.; a brother, Robert DiLello of Whitestone, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Colin Sheehy, Hayley Smith, and William and Joseph Stein; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Vincent DiLello, and a sister, Angela Disciullo.

Joe made his living as the head bartender at the exclusive Quo Vadis French Restaurant in New York City for over 25 years before retiring and moving to Shrewsbury 20 years ago. In those past 20 years, Joe became a wonderful role model for the students at the Shrewsbury High School and Sherwood Middle School as a senior greeter. He also enjoyed being a member of the Men’s Group at the Senior Center, tending to his yardwork and gardens, reading, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joe’s family Saturday, May 21, from 2-4 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 4 p.m. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to United Cerebral Palsy, 71 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
