Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Social Club (SSC) recently donated dozens of paper towels, tissues and bottles of hand sanitizer to the Oak Middle School.
According to Judy Kuhtreiber and Kerry Tylicki, co-chairs of the club’s service group, the club collects donations at its first meeting of the year for the schools.
“[School officials] have told us they are always in need of these items so we decided it would be a great way to give back,” Kuhtreiber said.
The donations were presented to Beth McCollum, executive assistant to School Superintendent Dr. Joseph Sawyer Sept 23.
“This is really awesome,” McCollum said to the women. “We are very grateful for all of these supplies. Thank you so much!”
The SSC service group also maintains a garden at Dean Park, and makes annual donations to other town organizations, including the Shrewsbury Public Library and St. Anne’s Food Pantry.
The club is open to all women in Shrewsbury and the surrounding communities. They have a wide variety of interest groups including day and evening book and recipe groups, game and card groups, golf, skiing and garden groups, and much more.
“It’s a great way to have some fun and meet others,” Tylicki said. “And you don’t have to be from Shrewsbury. Everyone is welcome.”
