Marlborough – Robert L. “Bob” Agolia, 83, of Marlborough, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016 at Marlborough Hospital. His longtime love of 34 years, Norma Chani, died in 2014.
Bob was born in Newark, N.J., the son of the late Frank P. and Lena (Ciccone) Agolia. He was a 1951 graduate of Barringer High School in Newark and played varsity baseball, as well as All-City and All-County All Star teams, and played basketball in high school. He served in the Army National Guard in New Jersey until 1959.
Bob worked for Chrysler Corp. for more than 25 years, retiring in 1989.
He was an avid New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed bowling and playing the piano, and was a talented watercolor artist.
He leaves his brother, Joseph J. Agolia and his wife Mae (Coviello) of Galloway, N.J., and two nephews and three nieces. His son, Robert J. Agolia, of Union, N.J., died in January and his brother, Frank P. Agolia, died in1975.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m., in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough. Burial will follow in Dell Park Cemetery of Natick. A time of visitation will be held prior to the service from 9-10 a.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Bob’s name may be made to a local charity.
