Shrewsbury – The sixth annual Turkey Trot for the Memory will take place Thursday, Nov. 24, at 8 a.m., on Shrewsbury Common to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. This event has become a tradition for many families in Shrewsbury and surrounding communities, a great way to get some exercise, honor and remember loved ones who have suffered from or cared for those afflicted by Alzheimer’s disease.
The event was created by the family of Francis P. O’Connor, a former justice on the Supreme Court of Massachusetts, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and died in 2007. Now in its sixth year, the Turkey Trot has grown from 500 participants in its first year to 1,350 last year.
