Marlborough – Runners and walkers began their Thanksgiving morning Nov. 24 by participating in the inaugural Early Bird 5K to benefit the Citizens Scholarship Fund (CSF) of Marlborough Dollars for Scholars. Over 60 participants completed the route, which started and ended at the Marlborough Moose Family Center.
Placing first overall in the untimed race was Keith DeAmicis, a Marlborough native now of Hudson. Paula Baran of Hudson was the first-place walker. Each received an apple pie for their achievement.
Additions planned for next year’s 5K fundraiser include timing the race, and awarding pies to the first-place runners and walkers of each gender as well as a child.
Now in its 26th year, CSF of Marlborough has awarded over $600,000 in scholarship funds for more than 1,000 Marlborough residents pursuing undergraduate or advanced degrees.
