Hudson – Jessy Currie, a sixth-grader at Quinn Middle School in Hudson, recently won a Regional Gold Key in painting in the 2016-2017 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Her painting titled “Me and the Sea” is an original painting of her at her family’s cape house in Falmouth.
Currie will receive a certificate and a pin for this award and will attend a regional awards ceremony at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston in March. She takes painting classes at Gallery in the Pines in Hudson and has been painting there since age 9. Tracey Wesinger is her painting teacher.
The painting will be hung at the Museum of Fine Arts for a month as it competes in the national competition in which she could win a silver or gold medal in mid-March.
