Shrewsbury – Michael J. Raymond, 92, longtime Shrewsbury resident, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017. Michael’s brother, Ralph, and sister, Irene, both predeceased him.
Michael was born in Worcester, a son of Nicholas and Clotilde (Sica) Raymond. He grew up in Worcester and joined the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving his country proudly. In 1970, Michael married the “Love of his Life” Betty Rabidou Oct. 3, 1970. They then settled in Shrewsbury where they have lived ever since. He worked many years for the former Cincinnati-Milacron Company as storeroom clerk before retiring. In retirement, Michael and Betty enjoyed spending many winters in Florida.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Betty; his sisters and brother-in-law, Frances and Robert Laincz of Leicester and Jane Boltruczyk of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Besides his brother Ralph and sister Irene, Michael was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Edward Boltruczyk.
Michael was a member of St Anne’s Church and the Eastside Post 201. He was a gentle man who loved being with Betty, loved sports, and enjoyed working in his garden.
A period of calling hours will be held Wednesday, Aug. 2, from 9-10:30 a.m., in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, before proceeding in procession to St. Anne Church, 130 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury, where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
