Marlborough – Anthony Everett, the Emmy Award-winning anchor of WCVB Channel 5’s nightly newsmagazine, “Chronicle,” was guest speaker at the annual meeting of the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce held recently at the Royal Plaza Best Western hotel. He encouraged attendees to be on the alert for potential stories to be aired on television and offered suggestions for presenting them successfully.
“[Anything] accurate, true, discussed on social media, or has trustworthiness of information should be considered,” he said. “We have been able to maintain our high ratings through the years because people trust us and our properly researched sources of information.”
He was introduced by Susanne Morreale Leeber, MRCC President and CEO, who welcomed all to the event. Everett joined “Chronicle” in September 2005. He has also served as co-anchor of News Center 5 and has been honored with multiple Emmy awards through the years for his reporting on education, sports, and several collaborations with health and entertainment associations. He began his tenure at WCVB’s News Center 5 in 1980 as a general assignment reporter. Prior to joining Channel 5, he was a general assignment reporter and weekday anchor at WVIT-TV in Hartford, Conn.
