Region – The Golden Tones chorus has received a grant of $3,800 from the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency, through its Cultural Investment Portfolio Program. This grant affirms that the chorus provides significant public value through its program of almost 50 concerts per year, many to MetroWest’s underserved audiences, reaching more than 2,000 people to raise spirits and promote health and social engagement.

“I’m thrilled that the Mass Cultural Council has awarded a grant to the Golden Tones,” said Representative Kate Hogan (D-Stow). “This worthy organization offers audience members much-needed laughter and enjoyment – and for our seniors, in particular, the Golden Tones’ music can bring back many happy memories. Beyond entertaining, the Golden Tones play an important role in our community by providing intergenerational learning at local schools and facilitating social engagement for individuals of all ages.”

The Golden Tones chorus will perform holiday concerts in many corners of MetroWest, including the Marlborough Senior Center, 40 New St., Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m.

The chorus welcomes new members any time – there are no auditions or attendance requirements. Singing together creates a community, as the singers socialize together and encourage each other to stay active, healthy and creative. Rehearsals resume Tuesday, Jan. 9, on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. in the Wayland Council on Aging, 41 Cochituate Road.
