Anthony Roberto Jr.Marlborough – Anthony J. Roberto Jr., 74, of Marlborough, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 at Marlborough Hospital after being stricken ill at home. He was the husband of Maureen J. (McGough) Roberto for the past 50 years.

He was born and raised in Arlington, the son of the late Anthony J. and Virginia (Kelley) Roberto, and was a graduate of Arlington High School, class of 1963. He went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree at Wentworth Institute in Boston. Officially retiring in 2013, Tony was a Renaissance man.

After graduation he returned to Wentworth Institute for a short time to teach, He owned a small construction company in Arlington as well as owning and operating service stations in Winchester, Stoneham, and Arlington, and at one time was an insurance adjuster and member of the International Association of Arson Investigators. An interest in electronics led him to working in electrical engineering, medical devices and optics. Anthony also owned and operated R & D Associates of Marlborough for 15 years.

He loved his family, friends, and his many rescued dogs. In his spare time throughout his life, he enjoyed remote controlled airplanes and helicopters, fishing, the outdoors, and HAM radios, and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He also held his private pilot’s license and loved racing motorcycles, and drag raced cars.

Besides his wife Maureen, he leaves his son, Russell E. Roberto and his wife Emily of Hudson; two grandchildren, Collin and Ryan Roberto, both of Hudson; and his dog, Penny.

Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League.
