Gloria PoirierMarlborough – Gloria (MacLeod) Poirier, 93, of Marlborough, died Oct. 23, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham. She was the daughter of the late William and Marguerite (Bowers) MacLeod and the wife of the late Arthur Poirier who died in 1989.

A Marlborough resident for almost 50 years, she started her own business in the 1960s called Gloria’s Beauty Salon, which was located on Route 9 in Framingham and remained under her ownership for 30 years. She was also an active officer of the National Cosmetology Association for many years.

Gloria loved to paint, work with stained glass and enjoyed donating to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She enjoyed vacationing with her husband Arthur, traveling to Europe, Canada and taking cruises to the islands to name a few places.

Gloria is survived by her sons, Robert Poirier and his wife Elizabeth of Manchester, N.H. and Lawrence Poirier and his wife Diane of Wilmington; her daughter, Regina Murdock and her husband Richard of Framingham; and her sister, Joan Brewer and her husband Gerry of East Millinocket, Maine. She also had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10-11 a.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.
