Grafton – For four years, Obi Melifonwu thrilled Grafton High School football fans as he scored more than 50 touchdowns for the Indians, then going on to earn a full scholarship to Division 1 University of Connecticut.

After a stellar career there, Melifonwu was a 2017 second-round pick by the Oakland Raiders. However, his time with the Raiders was limited due to injuries, causing him to be waived by the team and then eventually released Oct. 23.

But now Melifonwu is getting another chance in the NFL and for his hometown fans, the news that it will be with the New England Patriots could not be more thrilling.

Here’s hoping that the 24 year old finally gets the chance to show fans across the world what Grafton fans have long known – Melifonwu is a very rare and talented player.
