Shrewsbury High School freshman and swim team standout Kenneth Lee shares some of his thoughts on swimming and what he enjoys when not in the pool.

What is your favorite swim related memory?

“My favorite swim related memory was probably my first high school meet. It was a completely different experience compared to a club team with a much more cheerful vibe. I felt so proud to be representing the Shrewsbury High Swim Team.”

What made you choose to be on the swim team?

“I’ve been swimming for about eight years, so naturally I joined the high school swim team.”

What do you most enjoy doing in your spare time?

“I play cello, too, and also play in the school orchestra. I’ve been playing cello for a little over seven years now, so I enjoy playing it whenever I have time. I currently play in the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra.”

What is your favorite area/subject to study, and why?

“Math is probably my favorite area of study since it is my strongest subject.”

What is your favorite professional sport/team to watch?

“I like to watch the Boston Red Sox. My dad had gotten me to watch the MLB when I was young, and I watch baseball quite often.”

What is your favorite type of music and artist? Why?

“I like classical music mostly because I play the cello. Lately, I’ve been listening to Dvorak, but Shostakovich and Saint-Saens are also some of my favorites.”

If you could spend the day with any celebrity or historical figure from any time in history, who would it be? Why?

“I’d probably like to meet Michael Phelps because he is my role model. I myself am a butterflier [swim stroke] so it would be an honor to meet him.”

What are your goals for the 2019 season?

“I would like to go to the state championships, hopefully in 500 freestyle or 200 freestyle.”What advice would you give other student-athletes?

“Work your butt off and you’ll be guaranteed results!”
