Hudson – Whether you need a babysitter, enjoy eating out, or are an avid recycler – there is an activity for you that can help send the girls in Hudson Girl Scout Troop 75242 to Belize. Their trip of a lifetime this July will include visiting a local school, hiking in the Mayan ruins, learning survival skills, ziplining in the jungle, and snorkeling in the barrier reef.
The young travelers are looking for community support and offer the following opportunities:
- Babysitting Nights at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Marlborough – Thursday, Feb. 14; and Saturdays March 9, April 6, May 4 and June 8) from 5 -9 p.m. Children 6 months old and up are welcome.
- Fundraising Night Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 5-9 p.m. at the 99 Restaurant in Hudson. Offer valid with flyer on eat-in and take-out. Raffles will also be offered.
- Bring your bottles and cans (with 5 cent return) to the Hudson Transfer Station and look for the Girl Scout bins. This will be set up by the end of February.
Why are the girls planning this trip? Three years ago, noted troop leader Sarah Maston, “Back when the girls were in 6th grade, we asked them what would keep them interested in Girl Scouts. They immediately responded, ‘We want to travel!’
The girls are ready for adventure, and have been working hard at fund-raising, and now seek community support. Visit their Facebook page to stay informed of their activities.
