Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Schools Music/Theater Association (SSMA) will host the third annual spring fundraising event “Rockin’ Encore” Saturday, March 30, at the Scandinavian Athletic Club (SAC), 438 Lake St, Shrewsbury. The 21-plus event features live music, food, cash bar, raffles, silent auctions valued up to $10,000 and the band Tension.
This event has been growing each year and enjoying the attendance of local business owners and politicians, noted town dignitaries, and esteemed educators.
Tension is a dance-rock band covering everything from ACDC and Aerosmith, to Ziggy Stardust and ZZ Top.
The SSMA volunteers and raises funds to facilitate teacher and directors’ extra program ideas for music and theater education throughout Shrewsbury Public Schools. Proceeds support instruments’ purchase and maintenance, acting coaching, guest artist appearances, music skills workshops, middle school and high school festival participation, field trips, concert and parade attire, and more.
