Boston – State Representative David K. Muradian, Jr. (R-Grafton) recently welcomed students from the 9th Worcester District to the 72nd Annual Student Government Day.
On April 5, students throughout the entire commonwealth filled the Massachusetts Statehouse for the event. Specifically, this occasion allows for students who have excelled academically to experience the legislative process firsthand. Some highlights from the day included a welcome from the Executive Branch, simulating a Joint Committee Hearing and Executive Session and meeting with their state representatives.
After participating in Student Government Day, Muradian welcomed students from the 9th Worcester District to the balcony overlooking Boston Common, where he thanked the students and shared Massachusetts history to the group. While doing so, he was able to speak individually with each of the students and inquire about their interests.
“It was wonderful to welcome such an intelligent, energetic, and respectful group of students to the Statehouse,” Muradian said. “The building was once occupied and used by some of our nation’s most prominent historical figures to govern our great commonwealth. It was particularly exciting to watch the kids make the connection between where they were standing and its significance to the creation of our country.”
