Employers hope to fill more than 200 jobs
Marlborough – The city of Marlborough’s upcoming spring job fair will aim to connect graduating college and high school students with dozens of local employers and hundreds of jobs.
Organized by the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) as part of Mayor Arthur Vigeant’s ongoing efforts to increase local employment, the Marlborough Works Job Fair will be held on Thursday, May 23 from 4:30 – 7 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott—Marlborough Ballroom.
Now in its eighth year, the event will focus on giving graduating students the opportunity to meet face to face with local companies looking for fresh talent. Students who show their school ID will be able to enter the job fair at 4 p.m., in order to be the first ones to meet with hiring representatives from a variety of employers in a wide range of industries. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. for all jobseekers.
Attendees will also have a chance to take part in one of three free Interview Workshops, run by MassHire Framingham Career Center, where they will learn interview skills and tips on how to sell themselves to a potential employer. Registration for the job fair is required in order to attend the workshops.
So far, more than a dozen local companies, including Quest Diagnostics, which Forbes named among America’s Best Large Employers in 2019, as well as GE Healthcare Life Sciences, IPG Photonics, Atlas Travel & Technology Group, Helen of Troy, Resource Soft and The Davis Companies, have confirmed their attendance. Together, these employers are looking to fill more than 200 jobs. MEDC is expecting about 15 more companies to join the job fair.
“Marlborough’s central location, variety of amenities, and proximity to major universities is making the city’s job market increasingly competitive,” said MEDC executive director Meredith Harris. “This job fair is an opportunity for graduating students to professionally network with hiring companies in industries ranging from biotech to finance.”
More than 20 companies expanded in or moved to Marlborough in the past year, adding over 350 new jobs to the local labor market. In March, the city’s unemployment rate was on par with the state’s rate of 3.0 percent and continued to sit a full percentage point below the national average, according to the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.
“The city’s annual job fair is a reflection of the steady growth Marlborough has seen in the past decade, with new companies migrating to the city every year,” said Mayor Arthur Vigeant. “Our student population and other jobseekers are rapidly entering the local workforce, and the job fair is a great place for employers to match this demand and fill open positions.”

Job fair attendees are encouraged to register online ahead of time in order to avoid long lines. Those who bring a printout of their pre-registration to the job fair will be entered into a draw for a chance to win up to $100 in gift certificates to the Solomon Pond Mall, Apex Entertainment and Trombetta’s Mini Golf and Ice Cream.
