Linda SleeperHudson – Linda Joyce (Cox) Sleeper, 67, of Hudson, passed away peacefully June 14, 2019 at Rose Monahan Hospice in Worcester, surrounded by her family, after a period of declining health. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Ralph E. Sleeper, who predeceased her in 2008.

Linda is survived by her two children, Christopher Cox and his wife Stephanie of Southborough and Melissa A. Luongo and her husband Michael of Littleton; three siblings, Robert Shaughnessy and his wife Wendy, Kathleen Villanueuva and her husband William, and Paul Shaughnessy; three granddaughters, Abigail Joyce Luongo, Caroline Mary Cox, and Victoria Helen Cox; and two nieces, Kaitlin Shaughnessy and Jessica Shaughnessy. She was also predeceased by her parents, Helen Marie and Robert Shaughnessy, and her father, John Cox.

Linda was a resident of Hudson for 62 years. She attended Hudson Public Schools and received her LPN from the Assabet Valley Practical Nursing program in 1976.

She spent her life’s work in the field of nursing for 38 years at a variety of medical facilities including Waltham Hospital, Framingham Union Hospital, and Wingate of Sudbury. She was beloved and respected by her patients and co-workers for both her expertise in the medical field as well as her genuine compassion for all people.

In her youth, she was a member of the Girl Scouts of Massachusetts, and later became a Girl Scout leader volunteer for many years. Those who knew her best will remember she loved to throw a good party, and spent countless hours devoted to planning some of her family’s most beloved celebrations. From holidays, to birthday parties, from wedding showers to graduations, she was always happy to extend her hospitality.

She was a loving wife for 28 years and devoted mother to her two children. Some of the happiest moments of her life were spent with her three granddaughters, as she played games, sang silly songs, told stories, baked treats, and created arts and crafts with them. She loved all her family members fiercely and will be remembered most for her compassion, kindness and wicked sense of humor.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 18, from 5-8 p.m., at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 19, at 10 a.m., in the funeral home; followed by interment in Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson.
