Grafton – Enjoy an enchanting evening of theatre at Apple Tree Arts’ youth musical “Disney’s Frozen Jr.” Friday, July 19, 7 p.m. at Grafton High School, 24 Providence Road in Grafton. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students and free for children four and younger. Tickets will be sold at the door.
The cast of 33 actors bring to life the magical land of Arendelle filled with memorable characters including the sisters Princesses Elsa and Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, the reindeer Sven, King Agnarr, Queen Iduna and many others. Based on the 2018 Broadway musical and the Disney film written by Jennifer Lee and directed by Chris Buck, the musical features the songs from the animated film as well as five additional songs from the Broadway show. The music and lyrics are by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and the book is by Jennifer Lee.
The musical produced by theatre arts director Lisa Scarlett and creative dramatics manager Matt Mariner is filled with magic, adventure and humor. The show is co-directed by Scarlett, Mariner and longtime faculty member Laurie Baker with the assistance of Julia McGlynn and Liv Curnen. Lighting designer is Anna Esper, sound engineer is Madie Geoffroy and student costume designer is Kelsey Sidman.
The family musical features many popular songs including “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” “Let It Go,” “Let the Sun Shine On,” “Love is an Open Door,” and “For the First Time in Forever.”
Cast members entering grades three to seven include Elena Baker, Samantha Boloz, Claire Chimienti, Sophie Chimienti, Juliette Cote, Morgan Forget, Torynn Giunta, Emma Hillman, Kendall Hipp, Nora Iadarola, Nida Khan, Madison Lavallee-Bartlett, Caelan Laverty, Leah LeBlanc, Elizabeth Lentz, Caitlin MacDonald, Caitlin Marr, Olivia Marrone, Andrew Morin, Katie Nadeau, Cooper Often, Jesiah O’Leary, Anastasia Pomeroy, Amberly Quito Gauman, Isabella Rincon Noble, Gina Salvi, Clare Shaw, Carly Simpson, Colin Spinney, Maddy Spinney, Megan Torres, Ava Walker and Morgan Whitney. Students are from Douglas, Grafton, Millbury, Northbridge, Oxford and Whitinsville.
Founded in 1989, Apple Tree Arts is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization that has grown to serve over 1,500 children and adults annually with early childhood music classes, group keyboard lessons, private music and voice instruction, ensembles and theatre arts programs.
