Shrewsbury – Catherine “Kay” Trafecante, 94, a resident of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully July 15, 2019 at UMass Hospital.
Kay was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Michael and Minnie (Bronzo) Trafecante and was a graduate of Worcester Schools. Kay managed her family business, Bronzo’s Inc in Shrewsbury until its closing. She was a member of St. Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury.
Kay loved bingo, going to the casino and scratch tickets. She also enjoyed traveling, having cocktails on Lake Quinsigamond with family and friends. She loved her lake life.
Kay is survived by a great-niece, Jennifer Vandenburgh with whom she lived; a great-nephew, Dustin Taylor; a niece, Diane Shedd; her lifelong and best friend, Izzy Covello, all of Shrewsbury, and many cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Gerald F. Trafecante.
A period of calling hours will be held Friday, July 19, from 4-6 p.m., with her funeral service to begin immediately at 6 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will be held privately.
