Shrewsbury – Mother Nature had her own agenda on July 17 when inclement weather hit Shrewsbury forced Beatles for Sale to move their concert originally scheduled for Dean Park to the Shrewsbury Public Library.
While Dean Park is always fun, the Community Room provided a warm and intimate environment for the Beatles tribute band to perform. And perform they did! They masterfully invoked the Beatles in a house-concert setting.
Well over 100 people, young and young at heart, attended the concert, dancing and singing along to all the standard Beatles tunes.
The band’s members include Joe Budroe, Mike Christian, Dan Kirouac and Steve Caisse.
Budroe was particularly enchanted with 4-year-old Ryan Shooshan from Worcester who was jamming along on his toy guitar.
Vanessa Hale, president of the Friends of the Shrewsbury Public Library said that she thought moving the concert to the library’s Community Room worked out well and was a perfect setting for an event of this type.
Gary Grindle, supervisor of recreation for the Town’s Parks & Recreation department, agreed, adding that he thought the evening was “awesome.”
The next concert collaboration between The Friends of the SPL and Shrewsbury Parks & Recreation will be the Tom Nutile Big Band, on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Dean Park.
