Shrewsbury – The Friends of the Shrewsbury Library will hold its annual meeting Wednesday Oct. 2, at the library, 609 Main St. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a brief business meeting, followed by the program, “An Evening with Eleanor Roosevelt.”

Author and historian Carol Cohen will provide a look into the life of Eleanor Roosevelt.  Attendees will meet the esteemed First Lady at her home and will learn about her role as a human rights activist.

Cohen’s presentation is both interesting and interactive and part portrayal and part presentation. It focuses on Eleanor after the passing of Franklin and her time living alone at her home, Val-Kill, now a National Historic Site located in Hyde Park, N.Y.

Cohen currently works at Lesley University and is a published historian and playwright. She owns an educational consulting company and is currently writing the book, “Begin with a Box.”

The performance is suitable for teens and adults and is open to all. Friends’ membership is not required and no preregistration is needed.
