Jeanne LaFreniereMarlborough – Jeanne Casey LaFreniere, born May 15, 1933, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2019 in Worcester, MA, after a long illness. Jeanne was the daughter of the late Matthew Murray Casey and Ruth Allen Casey, formerly of Saxonville, MA. She lived her early years in Natick, Amherst, and Saxonville MA. She was a 1952 Graduate of Framingham North High School. Where she served as the High School Band’s Head Majorette.

In October 1952, she married Ronald E. LaFreniere of Marlborough, MA. She was married for 22 years and made her home in Marlborough MA, where she lived until 2017. She was employed for more than 40 years by the Marlborough Hospital Pharmacy Department, as a Pharmacy Technician. Jeanne forged many meaningful friendships, both personal and professional, throughout her career.

Mrs. LaFreniere, was pre-deceased by her sons, Ronald M. LaFreniere, and Donald A. LaFreniere, both formerly of Marlborough, MA, as well as her brother Michael Casey, formerly of Saxonville and Marlborough, MA. Jeanne is survived by her former husband, Ronald E. LaFreniere of Millbury, MA, her only daughter Janice Reid and husband Andre Reid of South Grafton, MA, her youngest son, Timothy LaFreniere of Marlborough, MA, and his partner Deborah Ebbeling of Northbridge, MA. Jeanne is also survived by her brother Richard Casey and his wife Paula Casey of Harwich, MA and her brother Francis Casey and his wife Patricia Casey of California. Jeanne is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of her family.

Jeanne was grandmother to five loving grandchildren, Amy LaFreniere, of Marlborough, MA, Sally Reid, of Concord, MA, Christopher LaFreniere, of Marlborough, MA, Katherine Porter, of Chicago, IL, and Maeve LaFreniere of Marlborough, MA. Jeanne was also blessed with five great grandchildren, Alexis Soto, of Hudson, MA, Timothy Soto, of Marlborough, MA, Lana Soto, of Concord, MA, Charlotte Bergstrom, of Concord, MA and Casey Vinciguerra, of Marlborough, MA. Jeanne cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren and proudly shared pictures and stories of them with all she knew. Jeanne epitomized the roles of Mother, Aunt, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, was always a loving caregiver and voice of sound advice and reason.

A natural fiery red head, Jeanne’s beauty, and sassy personality followed her throughout every facet of her entire life, winning her the love and admiration of those she met. Jeanne was a strong willed woman who provided for her family through hard work, resilience, and perseverance. She set the stage, year after year, for all of the holidays and family gatherings, with her delicious cooking and baking, creating memorable traditions for everyone. She loved building puzzles, and watching daytime dramas, which she always referred to as “her stories.”

Jeanne took great pride in her home, and was meticulous about insuring it was always spotless, and well kept. She loved being outside on a brisk spring afternoon or cool fall evening, swinging on her wooden chair swing, chatting with her longtime friends and neighbors and dining out with her family. Not a day went by that Jeanne didn’t have an ice cold Coca-Cola in the fridge, and candy dish full of M&M’s at the ready, to satisfy the sweet tooth of anyone who visited. Jeanne loved music, and shared her affinity for it with family and friends. She was able to experience dancing and music regularly after, moving to Dodge Park Rest Home, Worcester MA in 2017. The sound of old familiar songs, brought her great joy and comfort in her final days.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 6, 2019 from 9:00 AM – 10:15 AM at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St., Marlborough, MA
