Shrewsbury – Sister duo Jessica and Kaitlyn Minton from Shrewsbury Girl Scout Troop 11087 have found a great way to thank health care providers on the front lines in caring for those afflicted with COVID-19. They recently gathered dozens of boxes of Girl Scout cookies and adorned them with inspirational messages of encouragement and thanks for all that they are doing to fight the pandemic.
“I thought it would be a nice thing to do for the nurses and doctors in the hospitals. It is something that my sister and I can contribute to keep the morale up in this difficult time,” explained Jessica. .
“Kaitlyn, my youngest. said that she saw people helping out in the community and wanted to do something,” shared their mother Patricia, who is also the troop leader.
The girls and their mom delivered a batch of cookies on March 22 to Beth Israel Hospital and plan on delivering another to Boston Medical Center next week.
“The girls wanted to help somehow. These hospitals were chosen because we have friends and a neighbor who currently works at them,” Patricia added.
This donation is one of many of the troop’s community service endeavors. Jessica recently earned her Silver Award with fellow Scout Riley Manchester, when they built a Gaga pit on the Foundation Field on Maple Avenue.
