Paula L. DeckerMarlborough – Paula Louise (Goulet) Decker, 68, of Marlborough, MA, died Monday, July 27th, 2020 surrounded by family, peacefully at her home, after battling long term health problems.

Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Paul Louis and Doris Estelle (Yates) Goulet. Paula grew up in Marlborough MA, attended St Mary’s Catholic School in her younger years, and graduated from Marlborough High School.

Paula had a lifelong dream of being a naval nurse and caring for others. After the passing of her father, she changed professions from working with electronics, and completed Nursing School. Paula then went on to work as an LPN at Marlborough Hospital for over 20 years and dedicated her life to nursing, and healing others.

Paula met the love of her life, her partner in crime until the end Thomas, and the couple was married in 1992. They shared a very deep love for each other and were a match made in heaven. Paula was happiest when working as a nurse, camping on Sebago Lake, riding her pontoon boat, and taking a spin on “Old Yeller” or “Big Red”, her jet skis, as well as being with her beloved family.

She loved everyone unconditionally and enjoyed spending quality time with her brothers and sisters, her grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and especially her great-grandson, Justin (snookafritz.).

Paula was the most beautiful, thoughtful, selfless, caring person. She was a tremendous wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, great grandmother, guardian angel, and the best friend anyone could ask for. She was always sure to take care of those in need, putting their needs before her own.

Although her health had been declining over recent years, she remained positive, continued to fight, as stubborn as she was, and always had hopes to go back to nursing and looked forward to this summer camping in Maine and being with her family on vacation. She will truly be missed by her husband, children, brothers and sisters, and many more.

Paula is survived by her loving husband Thomas Decker, and her two children; John Beane IV and his spouse Laurie Beane of Bellingham MA, and her daughter, Jean-Marie Beane and her fiancé James Hutch of Marlborough MA. She also leaves behind her sister, Stephanie Clement and her husband Stan, as well as her sister Lynn Decker and her late husband Paul, and her brothers, P. Stephen Goulet and his wife Lisa, Paul L. Goulet Jr. and his wife Anna, and Robert Goulet and his partner Susan all of Marlborough MA. Paula is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Stephen Webb, Shane Schofield, John Beane V, Zachary Schofield, and Jackson Hutch. Paula also leaves behind her great-grandson, Justin Schofield, her 18 nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2020 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm at Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA.
