Northborough – In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote, GFWC Northboro Junior Woman’s Club will be holding a commemoration on the Town Common on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (rain date Saturday, Aug. 29). Members will be dressed in period attire reciting speeches originally spoken by Suffragists like Alice Paul, Ida Wells and Lucy Burns.  Information will be available about the history of the movement and those who paved the way for a woman’s right to vote.  There will also be information about Suffrage 100MA (based in Newton), Occoquan Workhouse Prison, and the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial in Virginia.  Information about voter registration will also be available. Those attending are asked to adhere to social distancing policies and procedures.
