Shrewsbury – Joan (Thayer) Hodge, 88, longtime Shrewsbury resident, passed away peacefully Jan. 20, 2021.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harold E. Hodge, in 2001; her parents, Richard D. Thayer and Barbara (Chapin) White; and her siblings, Allan R. Thayer and Nancy A. (Thayer) Grant.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Barbara J. Hodge of Minneapolis, Minn.; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; and friends, including Janet Dexter of Northborough.

Born in Worcester and raised in Shrewsbury, Joan was a graduate of Major Beale High School, prior to beginning an extensive career at State Mutual Insurance Company, where she worked as an underwriter.

Joan loved playing the accordion and was quite skilled, later in life, piano became a great joy as well.

Services will be held at a later date, when COVID restrictions allow. The Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury, is honored to be assisting with arrangements.
