Robert F. ThompsonWestborough – Robert “Red” F. Thompson, 87, of Westborough, passed away on May 30, 2021 at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Facility in Worcester. He was the husband of Lorraine M. (Delaney) Thompson.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Helen (Allavesen) Thompson. He was raised and educated in Boston and was a graduate of Don Bosco High School.

During the Korean Conflict he served with the United States Air Force attaining the rank of A/2C(P).

Robert served on the Weymouth Police Department for 20 years prior to his retirement.

He enjoyed military history, traveling and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. Red was a communicant of St Luke the Evangelist Church, Westborough.

In addition to his wife of 68 years, he is survived by three children, Mary E. Culhane and her husband James of Westborough, Lorraine M. Cain of Northborough, and Robert F. Thompson and his wife Maria of Westborough; one brother, Patrick Thompson and his wife Susan of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, Marion Fisher, Elizabeth Surber, Brendan Cain, Regis Cain, Leanna Lussier, Kayla Rhuda, Christopher Thompson, and Robert Thompson III; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Mary Jane, Kenny, Evelyn, Eleanor, Christopher, Nikolas, McKenna, and McKayla.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 3, at 11 a.m., in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Committal services, with Military Honors, will take place at 2:15 p.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. A calling hour will be on Thursday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, prior to the Mass.
