James R. MurrayArlington, Mass./Wolfeboro, N.H. – James Reynolds Murray, 91, of Arlington, Mass. and Wolfeboro, N.H., passed away on Jan. 22, 2021 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. He was the husband of Marilyn Breed Murray, who shortly predeceased him on Dec. 25, 2020, and by his brother, John Milne Murray Jr. of Exeter, N.H., who passed on Jan. 5, 2021.

He was born in Winchester, Mass., the son of the Dr. John Milne Murray and Edna Frick Murray. He attended Winchester High School, Belmont Hill, Dartmouth College, and the University of New Hampshire. Additionally, he attended the University of Edinburgh and Northeastern University for graduate studies. He served in the United States Air Force in Morocco, North Africa.

When he returned to the states, he worked in pharmaceutical sales and later in counseling and social work for the remainder of his career. He had a great fondness of classical music and stamp collecting and was adept at fixing all kinds of things. He had an immense knowledge of history and could explain many events of our past. He always put his family first.

He is survived by his two sons, James Reynolds Murray Jr. and his wife Elizabeth (Kirby) from Westborough, Mass. and their two children, James III and Ashlyn, and John Milne Murray III and his wife Laurie (Hennessey) from Exeter, N.H. and their three children, Jack, Ryanne, and Evan.

A service will be held on Saturday, June 26, at 11 a.m., in Wolfeboro, N.H., at All Saints Episcopal Church, 258 S. Main St., for James, Marilyn, and John, with a private burial at Lakeview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Salvation Army or American Red Cross.
