Vincent DePaul HarpinMarlborough – Vincent DePaul “Paul” or “Vinnie” Harpin, 80, of Marlborough, MA, died peacefully on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

Born in Marlborough and a lifelong resident, he was the son of the late George and Kathleen (Werner) Harpin. He was predeceased in 2017 by the love of his life, Anne S. (Boule) Harpin, to whom he was married for 52 years.

Vinnie was a Firefighter in the United States Airforce, and subsequently joined the Marlborough Fire Department from which he retired after 33 years, several years of which he served as a respected Union President. Paul’s legacy will be one of hard work and love of family. A good day in his retirement years was a visit on his deck and a cup of coffee while watching the birds amongst his numerous gardens.

He is survived by his sons: Michael and his fiancé, Shari McCarthy, of Woodstock, CT; Daniel of Marlborough; Timothy and his wife, Monique, of Maynard; Don and his husband, JP Scioville, of Hudson; and his daughter, Joanne and her husband, Michael Manganaro, of Maynard.

Paul was a proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren: Artemis, Emma, Justin, Alexis, Kaila, Tim Jr., Vincent “Paul,” Rachelle, Samantha, Andre, Molly, Vinny, and Sophia, and 3 great grandchildren: Emery, Ashlyn, and Rozaleena. Paul was one of four siblings, having lost his sister Anne (Harpin) Vigeant in 2017. He is survived by his brothers, George “Brud” of Shrewsbury, and Jack and his wife, Kathleen, of Sebring, FL. Paul also leaves behind his companion, Margaret Benjamin of Marlborough.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022, from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, January 31, 2022, at St. Bernadette Parish, 266 Main St. (Rte. 20) Northborough, MA. Masks or facial coverings are required regardless of vaccination status.

Private burial will be held at a later date.
