SELCO offering new electric vehicle rebate programs

ShrewsburySHREWSBURY – SELCO is now offering a commercial fleet electric vehicle rebate program.

Commercial, general service and municipal customers will be able to receive incentives for battery electric or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles that are either model year 2017 or newer.

“Replacing commercial fleet vehicles with EVs can help reduce total cost of fleet ownership by cutting fuel, operating and maintenance cost,” SELCO said in a recent press release.

The rebates run between $1,300 to $1,800 for battery electric vehicles. They’re worth about $450 for plug-in hybrid vehicles.

SELCO is also offering a Commercial EV Charger Rebate program. That means businesses can receive rebates of up to $5,000 per location for installing electric vehicle chargers.

This, SELCO said, will give commercial, municipal and industrial customers an incentive to install the charging equipment.

“While lowering the upfront cost of EVs to our customers is an important aspect of supporting EV adoption, another equally important aspect is supporting the development of EV charging infrastructure in Shrewsbury so that it becomes commonplace, not a rarity,” SELCO said.

These programs are just the latest of SELCO’s initiatives.

The utility already has an EV Rebate Program that incentivizes customers to purchase or lease new or used battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
