Shrewsbury – Jennie H. “Jean” (Szewczyk) Melanson, 93, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully, yet unexpectedly in the comfort of her home, with her family by her side, on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
She leaves her beloved children: Christine A. Melanson, Jeffrey J. Melanson, Francine A. Melanson, and Marie A. Nylen; her grandchildren: Ben Nylen, Nicole Nylen, Allison Nylen, Erika Russell, and Rachael Hershman; and her great-grandchildren: LJ, Makenna, and Brynn.
Jean was born, raised, and educated in Gardner, MA, only daughter of the late Joseph and Blanche (Rahupka) Szewczyk. She was a graduate of Gardner High School, and went on to become a bookkeeper, later working as a bookkeeper for her former husband’s HVAC business.
Jean was an avid reader, loved to travel, talk politics, and cheering on the New England Patriots. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She will also be remembered for her kind and generous nature, as she enjoyed helping and visiting the sick, as well as providing them with transportation to and from medical appointments.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Melanson family from 10 – 11 AM on Monday, April 25, 2022 at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury, MA, with a prayer service to follow at 11.
