Hudson’s Ground Effect Brewing to close, new brewery will retain same brewer
Ground Effect Brewing Company is closing its doors on Thursday.

HUDSON – Ground Effect Brewing Co. in Hudson is closing this week after three and a half years of business on Main Street in town.

Announcing the news on Tuesday, owners circled Thursday as their last day of operations.

The Brewing Co. will now mark that finale with live music, hosting a performance by Greg Schuler and offering food from Joey D’s Wingz ‘n Thingz. The farewell event will run from 5 to 9:30 p.m.

In a Facebook post, Ground Effect cited “unforeseen circumstances” driving the decision to sell the brewery.

“We’ve made some great beers and had some fun times in those few years but it’s the friends we’ve made that mean the most to us,” owners said in their statement.

Speaking with the Community Advocate on Thursday, Front House General Manager Lindsay Monroe confirmed that the new owner will be Clover Road Brewery.

Monroe said that Clover Road intends to retain Ground Effect’s brewer, Tim Daley when they open sometime in September after renovations over the summer.

“We’re very happy with the new ownership,” Monroe said. “I think this place is going to thrive more than it ever has.”

Ground Effect first opened its doors in November, 2018, joining Hudson’s growing downtown community after the success of the nearby Medusa Brewing Company.
