R. Eleanor MagillNorthborough – R. Eleanor Magill, of Northborough, Mass, formerly of Claremont, NH, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 12, 2022. She was 101 years old. Eleanor was the devoted wife of 50 years to Grafton E. Magill until his own death in 1997.

Born in Boston and raised in Claremont, NH, Eleanor was one of four children to the late Joseph and Marion (Silverling) Manning. She attended Stevens High School and was employed at the former Fellows Gear Shaper Co and for numerous years prior to serving as Deputy City Clerk in Claremont. In 2016 Eleanor moved to Northborough to be closer to her beloved family.

Eleanor was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and was a volunteer with the Ladies Union Aide Society (LAUS) in addition to serving as a director for several years with the Claremont SPCA. She also proudly gave of her time with the American Red Cross, Woodman Chapter #26 of the Order of the Eastern Star and PNG Woodbury Rebekah Lodge #61.

Surviving Eleanor are her two children, John J. Magill and his wife Barbara of Naples, FL and Amelia R. Graham of Northborough, MA; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, a niece and two nephews. Eleanor was preceded in death by her three siblings, Joseph A. Manning, Barbara J. Eggenberger and James P. Manning as well as her son-in-law, William Graham.

Eleanor will be laid to rest on Tuesday, July 19, following an 11AM graveside service in the Union Cemetery on Plains Rd, Claremont, NH. There are no public calling hours.
