Marlborough – Stephen Lee Burbeck, 79, of Marlborough, MA died on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 43 years, Christina A. (Anderson) Burbeck.
Stephen was born in Bakersfield, CA, son of the late Roland and Barbara (Atherton) Burbeck. He was raised in California attending local schools and eventually earned his Doctorate from University of California, Irvine. He resided in North Carolina from 1990 to 2017 working in the computer industry for many years until retiring from IBM Corporation. Stephen and his wife Christina have resided in Marlborough, MA since 2017. He was a member of the Kure Memorial Lutheran Church in Kure Beach, NC.
Besides his wife Christina, Stephen leaves his two sons, Daniel Burbeck and his wife Marta (Hegedus) of Marlborough, MA, Rev. Michael Burbeck of Cary, NC; his brother, Kenneth Burbeck and his wife Charlene of California and three loving grandchildren, James, Anna and Eva.
Stephen enjoyed his retirement years and cherished spending time with his family, especially later with his grandchildren. He kept himself busy during his retirement years tending to his chickens he raised at home in Marlborough. He will be missed but never forgotten by all who loved and knew him.
A private graveside service was held in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson, MA. A memorial mass celebrating Stephen’s life will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street, Marlborough, MA. Stephen’s son Fr. Michael Burbeck will be the celebrant.
