WESTBOROUGH – Economic Development Coordinator Zachary Boughner has received the July Employee Excellence award.
Boughner started as economic development coordinator just over a year ago. The position had been vacant for over a year before he began.
The town noted in a press release that he has been successful in leading the role into an “exciting” direction. When he started, Boughner was tasked with working with an outside consulting group.
“Zachary was able to assist in strategies and initiatives to better serve downtown businesses recovering from the pandemic,” the town wrote.
Boughner secured a grant to help implement the strategies, and his work has helped businesses apply for funds through Economic Development Committee grants.
He was also key in helping to develop the town’s Local Rapid Recovery Plan.
“To say that Mr. Boughner has elevated this position would be an understatement,” the town wrote.
