Maria SousaHudson – Maria Natalia (Luz) Sousa, 89, long time resident of Hudson, MA, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years Manuel de Sousa in 2016.

She leaves her seven children, Jose Urbano Luz Sousa and wife Maria Joao of Terceira, Azores, Mindy Loura and husband, Tony of Florida, Daniel L. Sousa of Hudson, Albertino L. Sousa and wife, Mary of Hudson, Lucia Camara of Bolton, Elvira M. Sousa of Hudson and Carlos M. Sousa and wife, Giselda of Hudson; ten grandchildren, Christine Correia and husband Rob, Marco Sousa and wife Zelia, Sonya Frade, Sarah Frade and fiancé Jeffrey Zimmerman, Angie Sousa and fiancé Mark Lavedure, Christopher Leandres, Stacey Sousa, Alexandra Sousa, Jose Camara Jr. and fiancé Heather Blais and Nicholas Sousa; 15 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren along with other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her 13 siblings.

Maria Natalia was born and raised in Santa Maria, Azores of Portugal, daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Conceicao) Luz. She emigrated to the states and resided in Hudson for 50 years. She was employed as a machine operator by Data General in Southborough, MA until her retirement. She was a member of Saint Michael Parish in Hudson.

Maria Natalia had many hobbies and interests throughout her life including crocheting, knitting and cooking. She spent many years caring for her family and later her grandchildren. She cherished spending time with all of them and preparing her special dishes, especially her “Cavacas” (Portuguese Pastry) for all to enjoy. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 4-7pm on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9am on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson for Committal Services.
