Westborough – Irene M. Madden-Young, 80, of Westborough and formerly of Upton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at the UMass Memorial University Campus in Worcester. She is the beloved wife to Kenneth E. Young.
Born in Marlborough, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Irene (Davidian) Fournier. She was raised and educated in Marlborough.
Prior to retirement, she was employed as a nursing staff coordinator for Marlboro Hospital.
Irene was an active member in the Westborough Senior Center and Westborough Senior Center Supporters. She enjoyed basket weaving, crafting, cooking, knitting, crocheting, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Scott Young of Upton and Deborah Young of Sturbridge, her grandchildren, Timothy Young, Stacy Young, and Christopher Hanson, a great-grandson, Aidan Young, her siblings, David, Dennis, Danny, Paula, and Mark Fournier, and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 AM, on Tuesday, November 1, in the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St. Westborough. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Upton.
A calling hour will be held prior to her service from 9:30 to 11 AM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to the Westborough Senior Center Supporters, 4 Rogers Rd. Westborough.
