LaVerne E. BertinGrayson, Ga./Northborough – LaVerne E. Bertin, of Grayson, Georgia passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022; she was 79 years old.

Born on June 9, 1943, in Birmingham, Alabama, LaVerne was the eldest of four children and spent her yearly years traveling the world as her father forged his career. The family settled in the Washington, DC area where she later met the love of her life, Donald R. Bertin. They married and moved to Northborough, Massachusetts, where they would start their own family and grow together over the next 40+ years through the faith and loving community of Saint Rose of Lima Parish.

LaVerne was a graduate of Clark University and later received her doctorate through Boston College. She spent the near entirety of her career teaching through Christ to both the young and old. LaVerne was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald.

She is survived by her son, Richard Bertin (Mary) of Round Rock, TX and her daughter Laurie Valenzuela (Michael) of Loganville, GA; her grandchildren, Malory Sutton (Holly), Jacob Wolf, James Bertin and Norah Kay Lee Warren; her sisters Caroline Plumb (Maurice) of Annandale, VA, Charlotte Seale of Grasonville, MD and Roxanne Ankney (Kevin) of Annandale, VA and her brother Edwin Seale II of Charlotte, NC. LaVerne also leaves her nieces and nephews Danielle Ward, Olivia Seale, Miranda Ankney, Michael Plumb and Joshua Ankney.

The family would like to thank Dogwood Forest for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final days and all of the daily care and encouragement they gave her from the moment LaVerne moved in four years ago.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 in Saint Rose of Lima Parish, 244 W. Main Street, Northborough, MA. Interment will follow in Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough.
