WORCESTER – After the Grafton hockey team built a 3-0 lead after two periods, the Gators held on for a 4-2 win over Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in the Division 4 Elite 8, Wednesday night at Buffone Arena.

Brady Keeler, once again, led the Gators with a pair of goals and an assist. Mason DeCaire turned aside 18 shots in net, and Roman Gilliatt added a pair of assist.

The No. 4 seed Grafton (21-2-0) will advance to the Final Four where they will play the winner of tonight’s game between the No. 8 seed Martha’s Vineyard and the top-seeded Norwell.

The time, date and location of the semifinal is still to be announced.

In the game against Shawsheen, Grafton jumped out to a quick 2-0 with a pair of goals 1:23 apart in the first period by Keeler and Cam Michaud. The lead grew to 3-0 in the second period when Keegan Gilmore scored on a power play, assisted by Zack Baker and Keeler.

But the Shawsheen Rams (18-4-2) refused to roll over.

They rallied with a pair of goals on the third period to cut the Grafton lead to 3-2 and cause a few anxious moments.

However, Keeler sealed the deal with an empty-net goal with 42 seconds remaining.
