Gaye L. RoweMarlborough – Gaye L. (Lovasco) Rowe 74 of Marlborough and New Smyrna Beach FL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 in Halifax Health & Hospice, Edgewater FL surrounded by her loving family.

Gaye was born in Gloucester, MA, the daughter of the late Cpt. Peter J. and Geroloma (Parco) Lovasco.

Gaye was raised in Gloucester, MA and graduated from Gloucester High School class of ‘67. She married John P Rowe Jr. in 1968. Soon after she moved to Marlborough where they started their family.

She graduated from Assabet Valley Vocational School with her licensed Practical Nursing Degree and worked as a nurse for over 25 years at Marlborough Hospital. She also worked as an office manager for Dr. Steven First and Dr. Theodore Bynum. She retired in 2005.

Gaye is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of 55 years John P. Rowe Jr., Son John P. Rowe III and his wife Tina, daughter Alycia M. LeDuc and her husband Stephen, all of Marlborough, 5 grandchildren Ashlyn Rowe and her fiancé Stephen Christian of Derry NH., Caitlin LeDuc, Joseph LeDuc and Theresa LeDuc, all of Marlborough, and Emma Connolly of Framingham, brother Jerome Lovasco & wife Sandra, Milena Muise all of Gloucester, Uncle Ambrose Lovasco and his wife Marlan of Gloucester, sister in law Mary E. Rowe of Marlborough, brother-in-law J. Peter Rowe of Southborough, many nieces, nephews and cousins and a very special young man Tino.

She was predeceased by a sister-in-law Gail Rowe and a brother-in-law Peter Muise.

Gaye’s biggest love and passion was her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved traveling with her husband especially to New Smyrna Beach where they retired to.  She loved to cook, especially for family dinners, and could always be found in the kitchen. She enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events, playing golf and cards. She was the consummate Sicilian Matriarch, very proud of her Sicilian heritage, enjoyed St. Peter’s Fiesta in Gloucester, MA. Loved going to the North End in Boston which is where they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary at St. Leonard’s.

She loved collecting Angels and Octopuses.

She served on the board of the Friends of the Marlborough Public Library, was the founder of kicking cancer country event which raised over $100,000 for cancer research and was the leader of Gaye’s Angles team relay for life.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 W. Main St., Marlborough, MA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anne Church, 20 Boston Rd., Southborough, MA

Following cremation, a private burial will be held.

To honor Gaye, the family wishes everyone to wear their favorite Purple.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Gaye L. Rowe Nursing Scholarship to be created after the holiday.
