Shrewsbury – Mary D. (Pirone) Olsen, 95, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 in the comfort of her home. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, Edward L. Olsen, in 2006.
She is survived by her niece, Amy D. Latour, of Charlotte, NC; her nephew, Ronald P. Latour, Jr. and his wife Carol, of Palm Bay, FL; her great-nephews, Jason Latour, U.S.M.C. and his wife Nicole, and Jarred Latour, U.S.M.C. and his wife Sarah; her great-niece, Laura Jennings and her husband Christopher, and their children, of Panama City Beach, FL, and her great-great-niece, Alexis Byrd and her husband Cannon, of Dickinson, ND. Mary was also predeceased by her sister, Gloria Latour; and their parents, Attilio and Laura (Catino) Pirone.
Mary was born in Worcester, and was raised and educated in Shrewsbury, graduating from the Major Howard W. Beal High School. She lived in Shrewsbury for over 75 years.
Mary worked at M.J. Whittall Associates, Crompton & Knowles Corp., and Peoples Savings Bank as a Secretary.
At the time of the 1953 tornado in Worcester, she volunteered as a Teletype operator at the American Red Cross Chapter on Howard Street.
Mary was a member of the Vincent Picard Building Association, and the American Legion Post 274 of Northborough.
In her free time, Mary enjoyed music and reading, and was a great fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Parish in Shrewsbury.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Olsen family from 9:30 to 10:30 on Friday, July 7, 2023 at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury, with a funeral Mass to follow at 11 AM, which will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury.
