Edward Kilik, 102, of GraftonJune 9, 1921 – June 30, 2023

Grafton – Edward Kilik,102, Grafton’s oldest resident passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on June 30, 2023. He was born in Worcester on June 9,1921 to Ukrainian immigrant parents Wasyl & Rose (Senio) Kilik. Edward was raised in Grafton, a graduate of the Grafton High School class of 1939. Upon graduation he worked briefly at Pratt & Whitney in CT as a machinist before joining the Air Corps.

In May of 1942 Ed enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and honorably served his country from 1942 to 1945. During World War ll he was in the Middle East theater performing the duties of an engineer mechanic with the rank of Tech Sergeant and served as a Tail gunner on a B-25 Liberator in the 57th Bomb Group – 489 Bombardment Squadron. He flew 66 combat missions over Southern France, Corsica, Algiers and the Congo. He was shot down and awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Ed was a devotee American and very proud of his war record.

After the war Ed returned to Grafton and spent the next 33 years of his career at Coes Knife Co. in Worcester, working his way up from machinist to company superintendent. He also enjoyed bowling, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and family vacations at Cape Cod.

He was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Mary in 2002. Survived and lovingly missed by his 3 daughters, Sonia Manseau (Robert) of Charlton, Karen Smith (Robert) and Nancy McGorty (Steven) of Grafton. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, Nicole, Daniel, Robert, Jacquelyn, Steven and Michael as well as 7 great-grandchildren, Makayla, Katelyn, Tai, Cole, Mia, Ella and Holly. Additionally, he leaves 2 sisters, Sally Noble and Sonia Melican.

Ed’s family would like to express heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the care and compassion provided by the VNA Hospice nurses. Memorial donations in his name may be made to VNA Hospice & Palliative Care (120 Thomas Street, Worcester MA 01608).

Roney Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Funeral services, per his request, are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Ed will be laid to rest in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
