Maria “Conceição” (Morais) BragaHudson – Maria “Conceição” (Morais) Braga, 83, of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Mass General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, after a period of declining health. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Manuel S. Braga, who predeceased her on December 21, 1997.

Conceição was born on January 24, 1940 on the island of Santa Maria in the Azores, Portugal. She was the last surviving of 13 children of the late Manuel and Bernardina (De Sousa) Morais. Conceição was raised in Santa Maria and immigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1964, where she resided until eventually immigrating to Hudson, MA in 1969.

She worked for many years as an assembler at Digital Corp until eventually retiring. Conceição was a lifelong devout catholic and longtime active parishioner at St Michael Parish, where she was a eucharistic minister as well as a cherished member of the Portuguese choir.

Conceição had many hobbies and talents throughout her life. She was a skilled seamstress as well as an amazing baker. She was a selfless and generous person who shared her delicious meals and breads with not only her family, but also with her fellow parishioners from Saint Michael Parish, who she would visit when she would bring communion. She loved music and was an extremely gifted singer with a beautiful singing voice that stood out in the choir.

Conceição was also a member of the Hudson Portuguese Club and Holy Ghost Society. She also enjoyed dancing, especially in the Portuguese Folklore. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, and was adored by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she helped to raise.

Conceição is survived by her two children, Maria F. Figueiredo of Hudson and Antonio M. Braga of Hudson; 4 grandchildren, Steven Figueiredo and his wife Helena, Kevin Figueiredo and his wife Gaelle, Susan Olson and her husband Jon, and Misty Braga; 9 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Kelsie, Ethan, Emma, Elis, Tomah, Chase, JJ and Jaden and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 4-7pm on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery for Committal Services.
