REGION – Aug. 11 marks the end of the Dog Days of summer, and the start of the state’s annual tax-free weekend.
Festival at St. Mary’s
Aug. 11-13, St. Mary’s Syriac Orthodox Church, 1 Industrial Drive, Shrewsbury. The festival will feature Mediterranean and American food, including kabobs, stuffed grape leaves and baklava; a bouncy house; hookah; and music provided by DJ Roy C, Marwan Zgheib and George Kentar. It kicks off at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, and lasts until 11 p.m. On Aug. 12, the festival begins at noon and ends at midnight. On Aug. 13, festivities begin at 1 p.m. and run until 9 p.m.

Centuries of the Soldier
Aug. 12 and 13, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, American Heritage Museum, 568 Main St., Hudson. This program features multiple historical encampments laid out chronologically over the great expanse of the museum grounds. Starting as early as the Romans, French and Indian Wars and Revolutionary War, to the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, up to the Vietnam War will be represented. There will be several demonstrations and battle re-enactments featuring a variety of re-enactors representing soldiers over the last 1000+ years.

Friends of the Library Book Sale
Aug. 12, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Westborough Public Library, 55 West Main St., Westborough. All new items — most are priced $1 or less, and all proceeds support events and services at the library.

Cornhole Tournament
Aug. 12, 11 a.m., Hudson AMVETS, 5 South St. Registration at 11 a.m., tournament begins at noon. Open to the public. $35 per single, $60 per team. Proceeds will support local veterans.

Shrewsbury Summer Festival
