Hudson – Surrounded by the people she loved the most, Marjorie (Margie) Ann Hunter, age 62, of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2023 from complications of Graft versus Host Disease. Margie was a fighter to the end and handled her illness with strength, grace and humor.
Margie was the beloved wife of Daniel Nattress of Hudson. She was the proud mother of Jason, Zoe, and Jacob, all of Hudson. She was the devoted sister of Susan Erickson of Maynard, Tom Hunter and his wife Ann of Hudson, and David Hunter and his wife Deb of Andover, New Hampshire. Margie was the fun aunt to Christopher, Ben, Nicole, TJ, Zachary, Lauren, and Jeffrey. She also leaves behind her lifelong friend Jane (Dyson) Briggs and many cousins.
Margie was predeceased by her sister Jennifer Hunter Yates and her parents Barbara and Ples Hunter. She was also predeceased by her former husband, Artie Morris.
Margie was basically a lifelong resident of Hudson. She graduated from Hudson High School, where she was a member of the cross country and track teams. Margie was a member of the Hudson Royal Jades where she spent many summer nights playing the baritone and marching at the Riverside Park parking lot.
Margie held two Associate Degrees, one from Dean Jr. College and the other from Quinsigamond Community College. She was a former employee at Artel, Chipcom and Brad’s Deli. At the time of her death, Margie was employed by Brooks Automation in Chelmsford. While she was hired as a Document Control Analyst, the company was impressed with her wizardry with spreadsheets and tasked her with creating a weekly spreadsheet for management. During her treatment, Margie wanted to keep her spreadsheet skills sharp, so she would create practice sheets.
Whatever Margie set her mind on doing, she went in at a full one hundred percent. During the pandemic, she decided to create a garden. She researched native plants that would grow in certain light conditions, researched where to purchase them and then organized what she planted and details about those plants on a spreadsheet. While undergoing treatment, Margie decided to take up power walking. While in the hospital, she would walk circles around the nurses’ station.
After the stem cell transplant, she would bundle up in layers of clothes and walk up and down her street for miles.
Margie enjoyed the natural world. She loved watching the birds on her multitude of feeders, and figuring out what planets were showing in the morning and night skies. She had a lifelong fascination with geology. Margie loved family vacations on lakes in New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont; time on the beach in Maine; and a trip to explore the wonders of Iceland. But what Margie enjoyed the most was time spent with her family and friends. She especially relished the hikes to Danforth Falls with her children and watching the sunset on Sawyer Hill Road in Berlin with her family.
Per her wishes, there will be no services.
