World War I and Aviation Weekend

Sept. 16 and 17, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, American Heritage Museum, 568 Main St., Hudson. Real aviation history takes to the skies each day with flying demonstrations combined with presentations by historians, restorers and authors for featured aircraft, including a 1918 Nieuport 28; a 1933 Waco UIC; and a 1944 Piper L-4 Grasshopper.

Veterans’ Breakfast

Veterans in Westborough are invited to a free, catered breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. at the senior center, 4 Rogers Road. Guest speaker will be Jeff Farrell, the town’s veterans services officer. He will talk about the services and benefits available to veterans.

Chicken Barbecue

Saturday, Sept. 16, noon to 4 p.m., Marlborough Fish & Game Club, 1 Muddy Lane. Sponsored by the Marlborough Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge #240. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for children age 6-12, and free for children 6 years of age and younger.

Buxton Begonia and Gesneriad Society Show and Sale

Sept. 16-17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill. Enjoy a display of begonias and gesneriads presented by the Buxton Branch of the American Begonia Society and the New England Chapter of the Gesneriad Society. The event will feature tips to care for the plants, pop-up demonstrations on propagation and a workshop for kids as well as unusual and rare plants for sale.

Naomi Westwater Concert

Sept. 18, 7 to 8 p.m., Shrewsbury Public Library. Westwater is a queer, Black-multiracial singer-songwriter whose work combines folk music, poetry and spirituality. She was nominated in 2021 and 2022 for a Boston Music Award for best singer-songwriter. Registration is required.
